A journey of rediscovery all about flours: comparing tradition and modernity

On the 15th November 2024, the “Giuseppe Costanza” Conference Room at the Vivaio Digitale hosted a high profile event dedicated to flour, exploring the overlap between tradition and innovation in the agri-food sector.

A journey of rediscovery all about flours: comparing tradition and modernity This conference was an extraordinary occasion to reflect on the evolution of flour, a core element of our gastronomic culture, and to understand how new technologies and sustainable practices are transforming the current landscape. Top-level contributions The conference saw the participation of sector experts who shared their knowledge and views.

Among the speakers were prominent figures such as Dr. Marialina Loschiavo from the Silvium-Giovanni XXIII Agricultural Cooperative and Dr. Loiudice Clelia, Commercial Director of Semolificio Loiudice Srl. Also offering valuable contributions were Dr. Andrea D’Agostino, Commercial Director of D’Agostino Industry, and Dr. Luigi Manfredi, CEO of Innovaprot, who explained the new horizons in innovative flours and their industrial applications.

A particularly moving talk was given by Cavaliere del Lavoro Pietro Di Leo, President of Di Leo Pietro SpA, who highlighted the importance of the quality of raw materials and family traditions in the production process.

The conference also included an important medical perspective, with a talk from Dr. Marcantonio Gesualdo, a gastroenterologist, who addressed issues relating to health and nutrition.

An all-round educational event Journalist Gianpaolo Iacobini was moderating the conference, and he coordinated the talks with great professionalism, stimulating an engaging, constructive debate. The attendance of educational institutes such as I.P.S.I.A. “G. Galilei” from Gravina in Puglia, I.T.E.S. “F. M. Genco” from Altamura and the “Brigante” Agrarian Institute from Matera helped to give the event an important educational purpose, engaging the young students in an open dialogue on future challenges and opportunities. A special thank you The event was made possible thanks to the organisation of D’Agostino Industry, with the precious support of BCC Alta Murgia, Rotary Altamura-Gravina and CIM. These partners didn’t just contribute to the success of the event, but also to the promotion of the local agri-food sector.
